First walking animation
Managed to get a sprite animation working and walking in Godot
For the past week, I have been learning Godot and going through a tutorial or two to get the hang of the software. And I’m sure I’ll be able to learn the software with more time and as I buck up against issues.
But the part that has been proving more counterintuitive, and is frankly not a muscle I have worked much in my life, is creating the art.
I’ve been learning to use Aseprite to create the pixel sprites (mostly following the tutorials from AdamCYounis) and it is coming along! It is very rough, takes a long time, but I can see the sparkle of possibility within it.

Kinda looks like a person, eh?
And here is the sprite walking in Godot — was honestly quite magical to get it working!

Just don't ask me to move in another direction, okay?
With just this silly little animation, I can already see the path towards the game. It’s just a matter of getting the firehose of ideas out of my head, through the tiny straw of my artistic and game-making abilities, and into the code and art.
It might be slow-going in the beginning, but I have learned that things accelerate as you do it more. Really anything is like that.
